A few words:

   I am  working on new songs, poetry, sketches, photography and silly artsy shite for my next production, a multimedia low-fi DVD titled "Songs (and Cries) from Casa Shtetl."  This creation is happening alongside enjoying art, law practice, music practice, reading, home, Vipassana meditation, yoga, friends, family, and jogging/trotting with Xena (princess warrior puppy).   Even though I am a songwriter and record producer, I am opposed to the way the music "industry" is suing tens of thousands of people all over the world and have represented and/or assisted some of those defendants.  For more info and informative links, see www.fairtrademusic.us  and the Tucson Weekly cover story "Thank You For Not Sharing" by Mari Herreras --Please call your elected officials and let them know that you do not support expansion of copyright surveillance, punishments, and fines, except for real "pirates," i.e., individual or corporate criminals who are causing truly felonious infringements for commercial purposes (and even then the sentences are already fairly strict).  Support www.eff.org.  Boycott the RIAA  buy music from  www.riaaradar.com -  Cultivate and Support Living Arts

 I eat organic foods and endorse http://www.tucsoncsa.org,  homegrown music, homegrown art, and creative human interaction.  On the other hand, the mash-up, participatory, YouTube, desktop publishing, blogging, web2.0 culture is very exciting and has loads of potential if one can avoid sham lawsuits and commoditization. 

My new label, on which Casa Shtetl will be released in 2009 is called "Authentically Cheap™ Records," which will feature downloadable good songwriting recorded in living room studios, on the road, on the phone, wherever and however the magic arises and passes.  I hope this project to be an instance of "substance over form," rather than the contemporary trend for form over substance, reproductive industry over originality and risk, celebrity over hero, brand over product, et al., , .  In what I call the "Incorporated States of America," I suggest that we vote with our wallets.   Lest politics and global problems bum us out, may I suggest a balancing reading list: "Destructive Emotions" by Daniel Goleman and "Train Your Mind, Change Your Brain" by Sharon Begley.
